Featured Poet: EdgyPoetry
EdgyPoetry is a noted poet on Instagram and was featured in A Poet’s Toolbox. We were delighted to share his insight and are excited to share more about his approach to the craft.
What’s your favorite late night snack?
Popcorn! I believe you don't need to be watching a movie to make popcorn, late night poetry writing/reading is a good enough reason.
How long have you been writing?
Only since 2017, when I took a poetry writing class in college. Up until then I hated poetry (or what I thought it was), but thankfully that class really opened my eyes. I've been writing relentlessly ever since. It was only at the beginning of this year that I started an Instagram page for these little bursts of poetry I post.
Any accomplishments you’d like to share?
One of my proudest ones lately is my little poetry page EdgyPoetry is about to hit 1,000 followers! I always try writing for myself, but it blows me away when others relate and love what I make.
Also, some of my work has been published online and in my college's annual poetry journal, Potpourri (2017 and 2018). And of course I was also published in the most recent volume of the Train River Anthology!
What are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to reading more, writing more, posting more, learning more, and just being more. This year has been hard for me and probably a lot of other people too, but I'm grateful to have poetry as a release/therapy, and I'm thankful for everyone who follows and who interacts, like you all at Train River Publishing!
Where can readers find more of your poetry?
I don't have an official website, but I do have a BuyMeACoffee, which is similar to a patreon. It's so hard to monetize creative endeavors, especially one as succinct as poetry, so I appreciate any sort of support, whether it be encouragement, or through BuyMeACoffee. Of course I love providing my work for free, but sometimes it's fun to go out of your way for those artists you really enjoy.
